PROTECTING OUR NATION’S FOOD SUPPLY
Keeping disease organisms from entering the food chain
Biosecurity Advisors is a consulting firm focused on protecting the food supply chain from biological threats, contamination, and infectious disease risks. We provide strategic guidance, scientific expertise, and regulatory insight to help agricultural producers, food processors, and government entities prevent, detect, and respond to biosecurity threats.
Our work bridges agriculture, public health, and national security to ensure food safety from farm to table.
Biosecurity Advisors was founded by Rick Greenwood and Jerry D’Amore, who have worked together on agricultural and food safety projects for more than seven years. Their professional collaboration began when both were appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture as members of the USDA National Organic Standards Board (NOSB).
Together, they bring decades of hands-on experience in agriculture, food production, infectious disease control, epidemiology, and supply-chain management. Their combined backgrounds uniquely position Biosecurity Advisors to address modern biosecurity challenges impacting the global food system.

Dr. Greenwood holds a PhD in infectious disease microbiology and an MPH in epidemiology. He is currently a faculty member at the UCLA School of Public Health and is also an organic avocado grower in California.
He has served on the USDA Hass Avocado Board and has extensive experience in disease control, having served as Director of Disease Control for Orange County, California, and as a Science Advisor to the FDA.

Gerard D’Amore has spent his career developing, managing, and optimizing agricultural production systems across the globe. He began his career in Saudi Arabia managing hydroponic greenhouse operations producing multiple fruit and vegetable varieties.
After returning to the United States, he established and operated greenhouse businesses supplying major retail outlets. He later worked internationally with Chiquita in Turkey, developing sales and distribution across Eastern Europe.
Gerard then joined Driscoll’s as a Vice President where he focused on sales, marketing and logistics
